WHAT WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED FOR YOU

Increased annual equipment grant from $50 to $100 per child
Providers entitled to 3-day bereavement leave
Increased subsidy amounts available to parents
Increase start-up grant from $400 to $3000
Alternate program available through child care associations
Fire Regulations Upgrade Grant to assist those grandfathered in who now want to renovate to meet existing fire regulations - no longer available
Increase Tuition Reimbursement Grant from $70 for required courses to $150 for any Early Childhood Education (ECE) course
Monthly nutrition grant of $40 per child
Subsidy "on hold" notices will be sent to providers on a weekly basis
Parental privacy consent form to obtain subsidy information (available through subsidy office)

WHAT WE ARE WORKING ON FOR YOU

Wage Enhancement Grant for group home assistants
Career Ladder and Retention Grant to acknowledge additional ECE courses
Working to make subsidy based on net income, not gross income
Working to increase the number of children group homes are allowed to have
Working to lower the definition of infant/toddler from 30months to 24months
Working to remove the tier system that allows subsidy to pay less to rural daycares
Working to lower the number of children unlicensed homes are allowed to care for (currently same as licensed)
Would we like an outside agency to handle collecting money to pay providers?
Research AB, MB, ON, and BC daycare agencies
We are attending monthly meetings to address concerns raised regarding the nutrition grant (for example:  are muffins considered as part of bread food group)
Attend professional development meetings to promote daycares
Debating whether there should be greater education requirements for providers so that we may be recognized as child care professionals.  Currently 1 ECE course within one year of opening, propose ECE1 (3 courses) within 3 years of opening.

Do you have any concerns running your daycare that you would like addressed?  For example: subsidy, consultants, special care services, grants.  Contact us and we will follow up for you.
